I bought a non-working PCB set from ebay some months back to learn on. It looks fine except I see a leg of a chip hanging out of it's socket and a cracked resistor solder point.

The question I have is there is a missing cap on the bottom right of the board (shown in the 2nd pic) and I'm not sure why it's missing. Was this board once used with a switching power supply so they didn't need the cap? Or maybe somebody just robbed it for some other board.

Do you know where I can get a replacement? I have a cap kit from Bob Roberts that just came in. Maybe it's in this little baggy.

Other than that, the 2 boards look fine and I have a linear power supply, wiring harness, k4600 chassis/tube and control panel getting ready to try and fire this up in my first attempt at arcade repair.

Thanks for any tips and suggestions.

Awesome. I'm looking at the arcade shop's galaga pics and he has a pic of him measuring that cap. It says 470 and I think 16v. But I do have 2 470 25v caps in this cap kit.

Hope that pic shows up.

Alright, got the new cap kit installed. I need to fix 2 broken legs and I just noticed there is an entire chip missing. The legs are still soldered to the board but the chip is gone, lol.

C49, 2D is the missing chip. It's one of the small ones nears the ribbon cable. You can see it in the first and fourth pic above.

Maybe I'll find another busted galaga board on ebay to use as a donar. You guys have any other ideas on where to get this little chip or what it's called?

Ok, I see these chips at mike's arcade. I just need to find out if this is a 2114, 2147, 2148, or 7489 ram chip. Maybe the schematics will tell me.
