Hi folks;

I've got a Galaga Cocktail I'm working on, sometimes when you turn it on, the game doesn't boot. It just goes to a white screen. Most of the time it does boot, though.

I took all the chips that are removable and cleaned them, I installed a switching power supply, cleaned the edge connector, I have a good 5 volts at the actual chip rails on the board... any ideas what would make it do this?

There is some history of experimenting with various voltage settings, to produce reliable boot sequences. Try something like 5.2v, that's not enough to cause saturation problems, but could be enough to get you through the sequence.

Also, some boardsets seem to be more sensitive to processor speeds, Z80A at 4M, and regular Z80's at 4J and 4E.

Some good reference info on Steven's site: http://www.arcadeshop.com/galaga/galaga.htm
