I have an original galaga pcb that now just makes a white box instead of an explosion after an enemy is killed. This problem arose after an atx power supply died. I noticed a lot of socketed custom chips have corrosion. Just curious what you guys think? Corrupted rom data from ps failure or pull the socketed chips on video board and give a good cleaning?

Cleaning the pins of the customs is always a good idea. ;)

But be careful. The pins of the customs tend to break off.
If this happens - and there's enough of the pin left, put the custom into a precision socket and solder the broken pin.
It's not a fault if you solder all pins. ;)

I have the same glitch, ever figure this out? It's the only issue I have with this board. I've cleaned all the chips, before I go spending the hours replacing sockets it would be nice to know what controls this graphic

My issue is intermittent, I have to push back the chips a lot to stop the errors, so I am pretty confident new sockets will do the trick, it's just very time consuming

Chipsockets on Galaga are a pain in the ass.

Better replace all ROM-sockets to be on the safe side. ;)
