Hey gang
Doing a Galaga restore and Im in the home stretch just running into some weird electrical problems while getting the power supply hooked up. This particular supply has an outlet to plug the monitor into instead of just having the black/white molex connector. My issue is this. My machine will turn on and give image for about 5 minutes or so, then cuts out. I still see glow from the neck, I can hear the hum of power through the board and through the power supply. The problem was first resolved by discharging the monitor and turning it back on. Same issue, image for 5 mins or so then cuts out. Having trouble getting image up again, could this be a flyback problem? When I discharge it I hear the loud pop of electricty.

Any insight would be helpful thanks

How much voltage is coming from your power supply? What monitor do you have? Are you sure you are feeding isolated power to the monitor?

If you have good power, it sounds like something is overheating and going into a temporary failure. Cooling off allows you to light off the monitor again.

getting 63 volts from black and 58 volts from white. 5v and 12v are in the norms. the socket that the monitor plugs into is wired directly to the transformer. this is a RCA (having trouble finding the model number markings )monitor with a k4901 chassis
