So my Galaga powers up and the monitor comes on and I hear speaker hum but nothing on screen . When I try to coin up to see if it plays blind nothing happens . Wheres the best place to check the voltage to the board and how much should it be getting ? Does this board look a little burnt to you , maybe the problem ?

Those are normal heat marks, and may clean up nicely.

Check that fuse on the board first. Next pull the large connector and start checking your voltages on the header. IIRC the yellow wires are ground, but check your manual laying in the bottom of the cab to make sure.

Check at the 3-pin amp going into the board for starters... center's ground... one's +5, the others +12 (poorly regulated)

Got it Working !!

I messed with the two connectors for the power supply , unplugging and plugging them back in and it came on and everything works good , played some games !

So the two connectors look corroded a bit , so they probably don't get the best connection . The guy said the game worked sometimes and sometimes it didn't .

Now the orange wire to the Galaga board is supposed to be +12 and I'm getting +15 , is that too high ? The other red wires are +5.5 .

The game resets when you move the coin door around , seems like when you open and close it mostly . What could this be ?

The monitor works and looks ok , but it has some convergence issues , like the bottom line of the test grid , half of it is a straight line , but the other half dips down and is not straight . And the white colors on the bottom of the screen have a red shadow behind them but at the top of the screen the white letters are normal .

But the game works good enough to play for awhile and leave as is , I got many other games that need work to get going .

Re:

The game resets when you open the coin door most likely due to the "Slam Switch" being very sensitive. Look on the inside on the coin door, the coin door lock keeps it in place. As far as your monitor goes , a cap kit couldn't hurt, if it warps on one side, jail bars, etc... You be amazed on how many games started working after reseating the connectors/chips. You can tell when a game has not had a chip or connector off in decades, you can hear dirt and crap breaking apart when you pull them off...

The Slam switch , never heard of it , I'll check it out .

Yeah the original monitor is in there , GO7 with a sticker that says October 1981 , the guy had it since 98 and he never worked on it , so its probably never had work done .

The slam switche is mounted on the coin door lock, can't miss it.

Throw a deluxe cap kit on that G07.

Should I get a new flyback and HOT ? I think it was Mod who said recapping a GO7 can put stress on an old flyback and HOT and these will then blow , so its good to just replace them when you cap the monitor .
