galaga has white screen

Clean the SRAM and 4xx chips on the video board. Tarnished pins... or bad socket.s

What Channelmanic says.

From my repair log for Gallag (a Galaga bootleg):

Symptom: (Gallag) – on power on, screen is just blank (white in colour), no gameplay
Diagnosis: on the video board, the pins and socket for the 6116 at location 2LM were VERY corroded. Replaced both the socket and the 6116 and it booted fine
Cure: Replaced 6116 at 2LM on video board, along with the corroded socket

I dont even begin to diagnose a Galaga board before replacing all the sockets for the customs and cleaning the legs on them. Its alot of work but the end result is worth it.

Hey Powermeup, what did you end up doing with all those free games you got? Did you get that scratch fixed on your truck yet?

I am having the same problem with my Gallag board (White screen upon boot up). I see a reference to the 6116 chip. How do I find out which one is the 6116 chip and the location. Some of my chip are soldered to the board, others are in sockets and can be removed. These are numbered 1-15. I took them all out and cleaned the legs really good and put them back, but still no luck.

Any luck figuring this out?

holy shit powermeup, vintage.

I actually have a Galaga board with just a white screen. I have a JAMMA adapter, I should probably see if I can resurrect it.

I need new 51xx customs between the 2 and 3 CPUs, any leads on new ones? I bought one thinking it would work but it had wrong numbers and just crashed the game.
