So I found a decent Galaga machine a few weeks back and brought it home - it would freeze up on me intermittently so I checked the voltage and the 5v wire was running at 4.6 or something real low - I was like great - i will put in a new power supply and be all set - well that worked for a while and then it started freezing AGAIN a few weeks later
I had installed a used switching power supply just to run the +5 into the machine - the rest of the cab is using the original power supply.
So I switched out the 5+ supply with a brand new one straight out of the box and it still froze as soon as I hit 1 player start.
I am totally bumming and at this point I am thinking I will just rewire it with a 60-in-1 jamma PCB - even though I really liked having my childhood favorite dedicated game - everytime I get a good high score I have to power cycle it and I lose it...
If anyone has any ideas on what might be causing the board to freeze (all startup test say Ok) then maybe I can give it one more try before I give up and 60-in-1 it (which I really don't want to do because I already have a 60-in-1 cocktail arkanoid conversion)...
