Hi fellas,

I am new to this board and wanted to see if someone could help me out with this enhancement pac. I installed one in my Mario Bros machine without a hitch but for some reason the galaga pac is giving me fits. Was getting garbage for awhile so i figured it wasnt firmly in place. Now i get a RAM OK, NVR OK. Im scratching my head.

Thanks Arty

Was the Galaga fully working before you installed the plug-in ?
Make sure all the board pins are in the z80 socket and that it's the correct way around.
You might also want to very gently re-seat the custom IC's on the CPU board.

Yes everything was working fine before I started. Im going to go back and see if the G5 chip might be in the wrong way. Do you know if the G5 chip is needed on a Midway board?
Ive re-seated that Z80 chip a dozen times on the daughter card making sure it was right. Im trying to install this card while the board is still in the cabinet. I wonder if I should remove the main board to try and get the daughter card to seat all the way down. Feels like it wont go any more but I can see there is a little bit of the pins still showing between the board and the plastic on the daughter card. Its not completely bottomed out.

Yup, it is needed.

Installing it in the cabinet can result in the flexing the board a bit, unless you can squeeze your fingers down the side of the board and push on the underside of the socket as you install it. Flexing may loosen the socket connection on one of the custom IC's or z80s on the CPU board so it might require reseating a few IC's. But take the kit off, plug the z80 back in and restart the machine make sure the board is powering up ok.

The board does sit up just a little higher than the sockets, so you'll see the gold tops of the pins.

Just took the Pack out and put everything back to original and everything works fine. You think the pack might be bad?

It could be, visually inspect the plug in make sure there are no broken off pins on the plug in.
Then try this, plug it in back in but don't replace the G5 eprom. Start it up and see what happens, if that works then replace the G5 eprom.

Ahh all right it works with just the card in!! What does the G5 eprom do?

No. Where would I find one of those? Is it safe to play without the G5 in?
