I have a galaga cocktail, the sound is turned really low but works. I cant seem to find the volume adjustment. I thought it was on the PCB but i dont see it. Can someone point me in the right direction?

From the manual it says...

The game volume control pot is located on the CPU board. The other board is the video board. There is only one pot. For adjustment, it may be reached through the rear access door on the Upright and Mini models. On the Cocktail Table model, you will have to open the table top to reach it.

The picture shows it being in the upper-right quadrant of the CPU board.

Look on the corner of the board where the audio output IC and a bunch of caps are and you'll see it.

Volume pot issue

I am bringing this thread back from the dead :)

I recently got a Galaga cocktail table in pretty decent shape. I am working to make it nicer. One issue I have is that the volume is a little loud currently. I searched for the manual to see where the volume was located (on the CPU if you're also inquiring).

Opened up my game and I see where the volume pot should be (and is) but there is no little dial to adjust it :(

so my questions are:

1) is there a way to adjust the volume without it?
2) What specific part do I need to replace this? I can't seem to cross reference the # on the part to find a replacement.

I am new to arcade repair, so please be gentle. I am trying to learn :)

Thank you in advance!

Chris

You need an alignment tool to adjust the pot. I cant tell from your picture but most pots have a slot or cross in the center so you can use a small flat blade or Phillips screwdriver. sometimes you may need a hex or square type driver but most times on a volume pot a screwdriver slot is what they use. You can replace it with a pot with a knob, just need to find one with the correct hole spacing.
I found this thread that has a replacement pot that should work but I don't see any need to replace it unless yours is bad. It is a 1K pot.

oooooh, interesting. I was thinking the outside wheel thing fell off or something. I will look at it a bit closer. Thanks for the pics for reference!
