This Galaga board came out of a cabinet that I picked up off the side of the road in 2017 and am just now getting to repairing. While the board has slight corrosion mostly everywhere, the corner of the game board that has the audio amp and 3 parallel capacitors is pretty rough.

I've replaced the capacitors, but the pads are mostly gone, so they're connecting to just board. Same with the audio amp pads!

So, I was thinking of building a point-to-point wiring system in substitute of traces and glueing it down... what I'm concerned about is the heat of the audio amp being connected directly to a non-covered piece of board. Should I put something in there? Tiny piece of aluminum or something? I could add a tiny heat sink (I use them on Commodore 64 chips) to help dissipate heat as well.

I've included a comparison photo of another Galaga board that I'd use to route the new wires.

But before I proceed, I wonder if anyone had better ideas/suggestions for me.

Appreciate your time!

My personal answer would be to simply layout a small PCB with all the audio amp circuitry on it and mount it on standoffs using the original amp mounting holes.

That would be a pretty straightforward daughterboard with five connections.
