Someone just told me that they played a Galaga somewhere that had a buy-in option. Is this something that exists?

In other words, where you can continue your game after you die, simply by adding another credit.

What's Twin Galaxies' opinion on this. After all, it is an "Official" arcade game straight from Namco, Guess they can't disallow that!

the twin galaxies rules are one credit only, no continues allowed. same thing theyve been doing since the 1980s, with games like "moon patrol" for example.

The reunion machines have separate tracks, and they include all 6 variations, Ms Pac-Man regular and turbo, Pac-Man regular and turbo, and Galaga normal and fast shot. And like Bradd mentioned, one credit only. It looks like only one score has been entered for any of the 6 (Galaga fast shot). They're also the only tracks (that I know of) which allow freeplay, since there's alot of these machines sold for home use with no coin door (but use the same PCB, just set to freeplay)

I have the Bartop version where you can't add a credit-- it has to be on free-play. I wonder how you can make it through the loophole ?

Weird that this would come up - I was at the theater Friday playing the reunion cab there and a few things caught my attention again.

1) The buy in ruins the game for an old salt like me. I know the kids working there probably bought in 20 times to get the Galaga score to roll. Same with Ms. Pac.
2) The microswitch joystick introduces a lot of problems. The one I played had a bum left side cherry switch. That made for some frustrating moments in both games and ultimately led to the end of both games.
3) It's already (I say already - I guess it has been out long enough) got cap issues in the monitor and SERIOUS burn in.
4) The big monitor, which some might think would be cool, makes the game look stupid. (scientific terminology there)
