Ok so I am starting with a Ms. Pac cabinet.

I bought a

jamma harness
jamma adapter
galaga pcb
all button joysticks
20 amp power supply

My question is... the old monitor i think requires an isolation transformer.

after trying to figure out how im supposed to know what it is, how to wire it up and if i really need it I am coming to the KLOVERs commuinty to help me make sure i dont screw up

SO my question is...can i take it out of the ms pac board now and wire it up to the jamma harness in some sort?

What is the best route you guys suggest?

I know nothing about monitors

first off take a pic of the monitor/chassis you plan on using. we can tell you if it requires an iso or not.

it will not hurt you to run a monitor that does not require an iso thru an iso.
better safe than sorry is better than not.

your power supply does not need an iso. so you can run it off the main power switch in the cab. or the primary that goes into the iso on the monitor. either is fine.

There are two transformers in the bottom of the cab. One is the iso and the other is for the smaller voltages. You can toss the one for the smaller voltages, but you need to keep the iso. There are many different ways to wire it up, but it is not that big of a deal to do.

Your best option is to just leave the original wiring in the game alone. The power already comes in and runs the marquee light, isolated power for the monitor, and runs the coin door lights. Just disconnect it from the speaker, monitor (video input connector) and control panel (and coin door switches if you want the coins to work).

Then wire up the switcher to the 120 (usually at the input to the isolation transformer). then install your JAMMA harness - connecting it to the power supply, then to the control panel, speaker, monitor (either cut and reuse the connector from the Ms. Pac or make a new one), and coin door (if you want coins to work).

Install and mount your Galaga PCB with adapter, and turn it on...
