I am in need of having my Galaga video board repaied. It is dead. Does anyone know where is the best place to have this done. Swapped out or repaied? CPU/Video board.

Thanks for your help.

Channelmanic was on the arcade repair tips podcast not long ago and said he was for 80 bucks. Ill get his site link this evening.

He sells a Galaga 'renewal' kit, which includes a bunch of sockets and resistor packs that are commonly bad. He's also got a walkthrough. It looks like a LOT of work! Unless you're just into punishing yourself, it's probably worth it for a repair job from him.

K

Thanks to him for the walkthrough though.

Yeh its a horrible board to work on, so many potential physical problems from crappy sockets, oxidised custom legs, fragile resistor networks, cheap ribbon cable connectors etc etc.

It's one of a few board on my ban list, never want to work on one again.

Yeah,

Once you get the sockets and resistor packs replaced then the legs on the customs cleaned you can finally get to troubleshooting any remaining problems.

Funny thing... Once you do all that work there are usually no problems left to troubleshoot and Galaga runs fine for a LONG time after that. :)

I'm still not to where I can work on a lot of boards. I'm still working to get boards out of here that are still here.

This was about 4 years ago, but a guy named Peter Hingston in New Hampshire worked on mine. The guy knew what he was doing - it's never been a problem since. He also fixed my Ms. Pac at the same time and it's been rock solid.
