I've been searching for a Galaga for quite some time, and I've been offered multiple Galaxians in different stages of conversion. I was wondering exactly how different Galaga and Galaxian cabs are from each other? I'd have no problem with a conversion, but I heard there's a slight shape difference. Anyone with knowledge on the subject please help me out. Thanks alot!

How the sides are rounded from the CP to the marquee is different. Most people will not know the difference.

Pac-man and Galaxian have the same shape. Galaga and Ms. Pac have the same shape.

You can see that the Pac (galaxian) cabinet style is at an angle almost the entire length between the CP and marquee where the Ms. PAC (galaga) gets to vertical about half-way between the CP and the Marquee.

The top of the Pac/Galaxian cabinet is not sloped as much as the Ms. Pac / Galaga cabinet. That way if you set things on it (like a beer) they won't fall off. Cabinet wise, the two styles are pretty much the same other than shape. You should be able to transplant things like control panels, monitor glasses and marquees. The wiring harnesses are different and Galaxian does not need a standard power supply as the AC to DC conversion is done on the game PCB. Galaga does need a power supply.

Apparently, in Japan, they also put Galaga in the Namco (PacMan/Galaxian) cabinet.
