Hi everybody!

My name is William and I am currently working on my first arcade restoration project. I have wanted to get into this hobby for over a decade after my father introduced me to Galaga, but never really had the space and time until now. Plus Minnesota winters get very boring, so I figured it would keep me busy.

I purchased a Galaga 88 (Previously Dragon Spirit) game back in August for $100. At the time, the sides had been painted over with flat gray house paint; the monitor powered on, but the marquee did not work and game did not boot. The marquee and CPO were gorgeous, and everything looked correct. Even though I'm a n00b, I believed it just needed a power supply to be operational (thanks to watching arcaderepairtips videos, thanks guys!)

I started working on the game last week, and am pretty much just waiting on parts to arrive at this point. (If anyone here knows the people at This Old Game, I'm wondering where my 36" white vinyl shipment is, it's been 3 weeks and no info)

Everything has been stripped, cleaned, tested, and replaced as needed. I'll post pics when it's done, hopefully it will meet the standards of this fine forum.

Also, if anyone has, or knows where to get, Galaga 88 sideart please let me know. It's the one thing I've been struggling to find. I have all the paperwork/manuals/diagrams from the conversion and the mail-in form for side graphics is included. Any chance Atari would still honor it?

Good luck, man. From another Minnesotan to another--looking forward to seeing your final photos.

Huge Galaga '88 fan here. BTW, it is a rare game and the board alone sells for a lot.

Check out the link in my signature.

Good luck getting it all back together. I'd pay $100 for what you got any day of the week. :) Galaga in all forms is sweet!

ya not far behind you i just got a pac-mania and would love to do a galaga 88 conversion using the artwork. I suspect there is demand for both the marquee and side art at this point.
