This is my first encounter with this monitor model and it is missing 2 components : Q301 and R170. Does anyone know the transistor part # and resistor value or have a complete parts list? I've seen a poor online copy of the schematic but it's too blurry and doesn't list the transistors anyway.

It is blurry, but you can still find the info:

Q301 - 2SC1973 (will be the same as Q101 and Q201)
R170 - Where is this, on the neckboard? What's it connected to?

R170 has 1 leg common to the emitter of Q301 on the main board.
Is Q301 a transistor I could rob from a G07 chassis?

Here's some pictures of the chassis. The 2nd pic is of the main board missing the components, the 3rd is of the neckboard.

Dumbest thing i've ever seen, using duplicate part designators.

Okay, I'll try some more searching...

Can you give a pic of the bottom of the chassis showing quite a bit more of the traces? I'm trying to trace it out. A top view of that area may be helpful too.

What is the value of R171? I'm not sure if this schematic is of the proper chassis version...

BTW - I realized I have a non-blurry schematic as part of Randy Fromm's Big Green Book, but it just shows the same as the blurry version. So - either you have a different revision, or the schematic and the chassis aren't numbered the same....

I suppose it's possible someone removed the solder and there was nothing there to begin with, but I doubt it.

Well, I'm not sure what to say. looking at the traces shows that the emitter goes though a jumper straight to R150. Also, the base is tied to the anode of D305. Looking at the schematic shows that it would be in the area circled:

Thanks for trying, I'm going to go ahead and cap it anyway. I actually had the monitor on and working as-is but the picture was severly squashed (I never noticed the empty holes until I pulled the chassis). I'll update you when I'm done.

I was going to say that the location makes me think it's part of the vertical deflection circuit, but have nothing to prove that is so...

Looks like no transistor either.

Way to take one for the team, Dave. Now go back to your heating pad...

Thanks for the help guys. I did a full capkit, plugged it in and.........perfect picture.:) The mystery has been solved, now I wish there was a better copy of the schematic floating around.;)
