Is there a replacement for a G08? I know there is a WG but some patch wiring needs to be done which I don't mind doing but is there another?

Thanks

The 6100 requires an Atari power supply as well as buffer amplifiers as the X-Y signals are somewhat different. Its do-able, but a fair amount of work. Whats wrong with you G08? As far as I know there are no other substitutes.

My G08 is out being fixed. I did a cap kit and it sparked and didn't work after that.

I am just wondering in case it is completely dead and I have to replace it.

The chassis is never completely dead...only tubes

A WG4600 will swap with no mods.

No No NO
Taking from the G08 Vector Monitor FAQ & Guide
If you are unfortunate enough to come across a G08 with a bad tube, there is still something you
can do about it.
You can replace the tube. As mentioned before, the tube is the same as the one used in the Wells-
Gardner 6100 series color XY monitors.
From Mark Jenison:
"I tried doing a tube swap with a 19VJTP22 tube from a Wells-Gardner monitor (4900 or 4600,
can't remember). I did not have any luck. While the picture was fine, I could not adjust out the
green band down the middle of the picture. Apparently this is due to the fact that the deflection coil
could not be positioned far enough down the neck tube (because the degree of the neck tubes are
different), but more importantly, the deflection coils are not angled to work well with a 90-degree
tube. I hear you can do this with a WG6100, which uses the same tube, but that's because it's
deflection coil is shaped slightly differently."

So you need a 19VLUP22 or a M48AAWO
I dont think anything else will work.

I wonder if a 4600/4900/G07 tube would work with a rebuilt yoke? If you wind a yoke for a 90 degree tube, it would fit on the neck properly...you'd essentially have an amplifone yoke..

They must be pretty similar electically, if the same amp chassis can do a 19 or a 25" tube, just the former is different to fit the shape of the neck?

I also have a broken G08 and was wondering where to get it fixed? I know Chad does not.
I am pretty sure it is a HV issue. I have recapped to no avail. It will come on and then just go blank. Some times it will stay on for a few minutes, others it may say on for 15 min or longer. Everything looks like the HV is dropping. I am at the end of my knowledge and tools (like a HV probe)
Any help or direction would be much appreciated.

Ahhh the beloved G08.. Are you getting deflection chatter? If no, then your HV is shutting down because of spot protection. Can you wiggle connectors and get HV back? If so, check your soldering on the pins in the HV cage. The bad thing about these is you need a Sega G80 game to test em.. Id offer to help, but dont have a setup to test them.

After is goes blank, no chatter, do have neck glow...? Wiggling does not appear to help. I re-flowed all the pin headers with the cap kit, no help. I did test the tube with my rejuve :) and it tested good. I also re-flowed all the game boards as well as the cage.
