G08 Monitors

HAHA I know they have a history of catching fire. Is there a replacement XY that can be used?

Not to my knowledge. There may be a setup where you could use another color vector monitor or something like that, tho. I want to say someone created a kit for conversion but I'm not certain.

Whats wrong with the G08 that you are trying to fix? I've rebuilt mine and did all the recommended updates/upgrades as well. Which game is it for?

Basically you have to order the parts individually. Noone makes
a cap kit that I am aware of.. Maybe Zanen but I havent checked.

What wrong with it?

I made my own cap kit for mine when I rebuilt mine, let me find the order list I had made with digi-key and I'll send it your way Dale!

There's was a guy in Texas who said on another thread that he could fix G08's. I think it was the FS thread where the guy was trying to sell his STSOS with extra monitors and boards, but I could be wrong.

AND I thought I saw someone selling cap kits, maybe on ebay, not too long ago, but I'm probably wrong there, too....

So, I'll just shut up now.

If you just want the upgraded cap kit installed and everything adjusted including the high voltage, I can actually do that.

There is definitely an opportunity for someone to step up and offer quality repair for this monitor. I think Chad stopped doing it because it was simply too time consuming compared to other repairs, and he would have had to charge more than the average person would be willing to pay. I think there are people who would pay more for this repair, though. Maybe $250 tops? If you have an expensive game and can't fix the monitor yourself, you don't have any other choice.
