I just recieved confirmation that my cap kit for my Centipede Cabaret shipped, and it got me thinking. I heard that G07s have a tendency to blow flybacks after cap kits. Is this a "it might blow or might not" proposition or has every G07 flyback blown after a cap kit sooner or later?

New caps with the original flyback will stress it for sure. There was a big thread about this a while back and the general consensus was to replace the flyback if it is original when you cap it. Otherwise you might be looking at needing a new flyback and a new cap kit in a very short time afterwards.

Yes. if the flyback is original (usually grey), then it's likely to blow eventually. if it's white, then it might be a new one, and there's no need to replace it....

If the flyback is original, then it quite possibly could explode after a cap kit.

Originals are white colored with a green label on the side.

flyback

I would replace it if it's the original one.

I've never really seen on blow just because of caps, but I've seen plenty blow after replacing the HOT, if the fly wasn't replaced at the same time...

I have had it happen one time out of about 40 G07's I have done. Amazingly it didnt take out the HOT or either fuses. I installed a new fly and it was good to go.
I recapped it, fired it up for testing and the picture came up great. About 1 minute later the fly exploded...literally. I dont think I ever found all the pieces to it :)
