Hey guys. So I recently got a rebuilt G07 CBO chassis to replace a generic Wei Ya chassis (see here https://forums.arcade-museum.com/showthread.php?t=410451)

I've got it hooked up (CBO chassis on a CAO frame/tube) and I can't get it to sync. I've tried adjusting the vertical hold pot put can't get it to stop scrolling. Also tried messing with H freq but that probably made things worse.

I can make out the graphics of the game (it's Tournament Arkanoid) but it's somewhat distorted and out of sync.

I took a short clip to illustrate the issue:

I haven't had to deal with monitor sync issues before so I'm not sure what else to try. Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks!

Post pics of how you have the video connected at the chassis. Do you have the sync looped to both pins on the three position plug.

Sorry if the pic is blurry...are you talking about the 3 pin connector above the video connector?

if it means anything, I have one that gets a sync issue because the connectors need reflowing. I have the cable held up with a twist-tie in the meantime. I have a recap kit from security0001 ready to go, and i'll take care of all the connectors then. So maybe try suspending the cable so there's no stress on the board.

Probably won't help but that's my experience with this issue on this board.

That looks like a positive sync hookup. If your game is negative sync you need to split the connector and hookup sync to the upper 3 position plug.

Look at this for examples. Scroll down the the electrohome g07 example

Just checked the manual for the Tournament Arkanoid board and it says it's negative sync. Looks like that's the issue then?

Looking over your link, do I take the sync wires out of the video connector and put them in a seperate connector to plug into that 3 prong plug on the chassis?

Yes. Or you may be able to physically cut that one with a hobby knife.

Gonna get a 3 pin molex to transfer the sync wires to, don't want to try to cut the connector. Will post back results when I can.

Thank you for the help, I really appreciate it!

Cool.

If it matters you should have R-G-B-GND-Key-Gnd-Sync-Sync

You can safely cut the miles connector down the middle of the Key slot.

Update: Put the sync wires in a new molex and plugged them in - got the monitor to sync!

Now I'm having a new problem: Horizontal picture is seems too small - about half an inch to an inch on each side. Also, there's a very small ripple in the picture and a slight geometry issue on the bottom of the picture (or I guess the side, since it is vertically mounted after all)

I was going to adjust the width coil but thought I should test the B+ voltage first...as I understand it the test point is on the big white R901 resistor, the lead closest to the tube. But after attaching a lead there and ground to the frame, I'm getting no readings on my meter. That can't be, as the monitor is running. Am I missing something?

if you haven't capped it with QUALITY caps i would do that first. here is the B+ procedure for the electrohome g07cbo

Electrohome GO-7 - (120vdc) check with black meter lead on chassis ground and red lead on the white wire closest to the tube of the ceramic resistor that is on the left side of the chassis.

Thanks. Finally got it. B+ was at 112 so I adjusted it up 120. Didn't seem to change anything. Still have a very faint ripple/wave in the picture.

Tried adjusting the Horz width coil. No change in size that I could see. Maybe I didn't turn it enough?

Ugh, I don't want to have to cap this whole thing. :/

capping it may be part of your problem and the ripple/wave may be your filter cap needs replacing.
