I have a converted Stargate cabinet, JAMMA with a Spatterhouse board. The plan is to convert it back to Stargate - already have what I need to do it.

The G07 had a vertical collapse. As a shotgun/refresh approach, I did a full cap kit, even the bipolar caps, replaced the 2 vertical deflection transistors and the F401 that I think was the problem.

Monitor now works, but seemed like a took a couple of minutes to warm up and brighten up. While tube has some burn, it seems less vibrant that I thought it would be.

Looks like original flyback and I have a replacement on hand. Would a new flyback likely fix this?

Thanks-
Joey

Yes, sicve you already replaced the caps the flyback is the next likely suspect. It could be the tube as well but the warm up time points to the flyback.

I would change the fly. The new parts will take out the fly if it's original. It's just a matter of time.

On second look, I suppose the warm up time is fine, maybe I can adjust the washed out look out.

Splatter House seems fun, for a JAMMA fighter..

Wow.. that's some quick response time on my thread!!!

With how cheap the flybacks are, and it going in a restoration project eventually, I guess I'll replace the flyback as well

Thanks!

If the colors are dim and you know it isn't the tube, and you've already capped it, try replacing R517...

This doesn't sound like a flyback issue at all to me.

The most likely culprit here is that the tube is old. Do you have another G07 that you could throw this chassis into to confirm?

Seems like all my G07s have a good degree of burn - Btime, Ms Pac, Pac, etc..

This may be a good candidate for a tube swap. Or..I may just use it in the Stargate until I get around to trying a tube swap.

Done a lot of work on monitors, power supplies, but have yet to attempt a tube swap. May try it soon..

Thanks all

Joey

Just replaced the flyback in under 30min. Seems like a better picture, but could be wishful thinking. Monitor should last a while now.....

Time to play Splatterhouse, before I de-convert the cabinet!

Thanks all-

It's funny...I can PULL a fly in about two minutes once the iron is hot. But I'll be damned if I can install the new one in under about the same amount of time. I can never get the holes to line up right.

Funny you say that. I did spend 10 minutes messing around with it, straightening the pins with pliers..it just didn't seem like it wanted to fit. Once the pins line up, it's a pretty quick solder job.
