My centipede is displaying this. Is this an adjustment or does the chassis need to be rebuilt?

I've adjusted just about everything there is to adjust without fixing it. I ran the video output thru a G07 I have in another cabinet and it displayed fine.

I've replaced the chassis in many different monitors, but my diagnostic skills are still lacking.

thoughts?

thanks in advance

I have never seen that as a symptom of a chassis I've had in my possession, as a reason for rebuild.

Your display looks like the sync is wrong (which probably isn't the case if you've tested the signal with another g07 and it was fine), or the horizontal frequency pot on the chassis needs to be adjusted or replaced.

Was it a g07 that you tested it with as working? Edit, A reread shows me that it was.

It very may well need a rebuild for optimal performance.

Has the chassis ever had any work done to it?

I highly doubt the chassis has had any work done to it. The guy I bought it from had it for ages and was not very technical.

FWIW, there was a time where this display would occur and after a few minutes, the game displayed normally.

Now that's all I get.

thanks

replace your pots that control syncs and while your at it if it hasn't been done recap it for good measure :D

I dont personally own a g07 but I knew a guy who said original g07 pots break all the time and was replacing them while I was buying something from him

I've had pots go bad in many things

I believe those would be the pots bobroberts has them and prolly buffet too

You have a horizontal sync problem. Check transistors X301, X305 and IC501. Also make sure these four resistors R303, R306, R314, and R317 are all 390 ohm.

before you do anything.

that chassis needs the caps and flyback replaced.

there is probably nothing else wrong with it.

bad caps will cause your issue and other issues that can make that issue happen no matter if you replace the parts in that circuit that can cause it if they are bad.

cap, fly and re-flow and see what you have.

if you need parts i have them.

if you need it fixed, your welcome to send it in.

i agree if you haven't done any work to it then i would start with quality caps and flyback and i personally like converting the axial fuses to fuse clips. i have everything in stock with top quality nichicon 105c caps and i have the proper fuse clips and fuses that fit perfect with no install issues.

also, your semi local to me if you would like to come by and have the tube and everything done at once.

That's why I love this place - you guys know your shit.

I didn't want to go down that path and then have that not be the problem.

Thanks to all for the input - much appreciated!

Having the same problem on my g07. Replaced the the horizontal frequency and vertical pots. I can adjust them to almost perfect but the pictures rolls if I go to far one way or the other. Basically there is no sweet spot, just rolls. All I did was connect a different working board to my monitor. I guess I'll try flyback and caps as well.

Some days I simply don't understand the advice given here.

Seeing that picture and description would ABSOLUTELY NEVER pull a suggestion from me to replace the flyback.

This is a horizontal sync issue and should be identified immediately by anyone with rudimentary training (including hobbyist repair) in TV/monitors.

Oh- and you should replace the big blue cap to rule that out too.

I'm irked now.

Yours sounds like a sync issue. I had this problem when I put a k4900 into a cab that previously had a g07 in it. (I think)

Anyway it was in my hypersports and the sync for that board was different for a 4900 and a g07.

I think it is just because it is a G07. Any G07 chassis that is removed for servicing should be checked to see if the flyback is original- and then consider replacing it since it is a known timebomb. That's probably the reason it was suggested. I would do the same with k7500's as well. Most other flybacks if working should be left alone IMHO.

And yes- that is a horizontal sync issue.

On my very first g07. I was told to do a cap kit and replace my flyback, because it looked original, even though it wasn't causing trouble.

That is sound advice if you intend to keep the game/monitor for some time.
