G07 - Post tube swap convergence issue and flickering

Hi, I've completed a tube swap and flyback/widthcoil/cap kit on my G07 (full resto thread here: http://forums.arcade-museum.com/showthread.php?t=227787&page=3)

and I'm having convergence and flickering issues. I'm using the G07 yoke with the donor tubes' rings. I got much closer to convergence with the donor rings.

I've read the 'how to' thread on convergence and had little luck, and the flickering is leading me to think there's a rotten ground somewhere.

I've attached some pictures and have some questions;

- the strap that surrounds the tube and connects to the neck board, is that for degaussing?

- I have a video of the flickering here:

I almost have convergence on the right of the screen, would strips help in this occasion?

Thanks!

The strap that connects to the neck board is the dag ground. You *need* this.

The coil that goes all around the whole tube (looks like it's wrapped in electrical tape) and plugs into the chassis with two pins is the degaussing coil.

Ok, Dag Ground. I noticed the connection to the neckboard was a bit loose at the solder point. I reflowed it, but it was still rocked a bit in the board. If that isn't getting a solid connection, could it be the cause of my flicker?

It's possible, also you can really screw up the monitor without it. I used to think it was overkill but then I started seeing monitors blow fuses and arc and things if it wasn't plugged in. I'd definately start at that, and see if it fixes the flickering thing.

I resolved the flickering issue, it was a pot in the middle of the board. What was interesting was that the flicker was only on the lower left of the rendered image, no matter which way the yoke was turned.

Gonna make some convergence strips to do the edges.
