G07 Metal shield Thing - Do I need It ???

Theres that metal shield thing over some of the caps right behind the adjustment pots . Whats it for ? Can it be removed or should I leave it in place ?

i have seen it make a difference once in a great while.

i put them back on, they were/are there for a reason so i go with it.

i do have folks that i repair chassis for ask that i put them back on.

I imagine they are there for the same reason that the metal screen is on the HVU on the Wells 6100's. They do serve a purpose but I've never noticed a problem with GO7's that didnt have the cover.
 
my cap kits i have for the G07 have the proper sized caps so you can put it on. i personally always put the shield back on.
 
Here's 3 good reasons to put this shield back on.


1:The shield act as a shield for the IC since its so close to the flyback.

2:The shield is used to link grounds in and around the ic

3 The shield was installed from the factory not a add on.

I do it its not a hassle, its harder to get off then on.

That's my take on the shield.. LOL

also what i figured, it was there for a reason, so i just do it.

with the proper desoldering station it is not hard to remove them.

with a solda pull it and braid i can see where it would be a major hassle.
