Ok everyone, here's the story-

I was playing my Centipede one night. My monitor had been doing a weird flashing every now and then leading up to the problem. Along with the flashing I'd see some quick blue lines down the left side of the monitor, then go back to normal. The night of the problem, it was just running when I heard a *POP* and the screen went black. I turned it off quickly. It still plays blind. Yesterday I did an entire new cap kit and replaced the Flyback with a new one. I put it back in the machine and it's still playing blind. I checked all the fuses on the power brick and they are fine, and also checked the fuse on the chassis and it's fine too. What's the next step? Change transistor "bottle caps" on chassis frame? Help!

Follow the flowchart first. Google search G07 flowchart

Here is the link to the flowchart: http://antelopearcade.com/files/Monitor Manuals/FLOWCHART_-_ELECTROHOME_G07_(U).pdf

When replacing the flyback it is very easy to damage the traces and crack the board. Check for continuity from each pin of the flyback to the next component lead on the trace.

Also measure your B+ if it is not near 120V DC, you are in HV shutdown. Remove X701 and see if it comes on. If it does you have a horizontal circuit problem. All of this is in the flowchart.

If you need more assistance contact me at 859-396-3740 preferably between 9 AM and 4 PM EST Monday thru Friday. In the evenings will be hit and miss.

I don't see that you say you changed the smaller fuse. It is very likely it is bad.

but yeah follow the flow chart (AFTER you pull the small fuse out and test it)

Ok, so we are getting somewhere. The big fuse is getting continuity. But, like you said, the smaller fuse is not getting any! Ok. Gotta replace it. Where do I find it?

Along with changing the fuse, I will need to change the bottle caps on the side of the frame correct? Those are the transistors and the HOT that caused the issue?

i have everything and those would be the VR and the HOT which are 2sc1106 and 2sd871. let me know if you need help finding anything.

I would change the fuse only first and fire it up again.

You should have a HOT and VR on hand (as well as a few extra fuses). But I wouldn't change it all prior to testing. All of the parts may be good.

The flyback going bad is what blew your fuse (most likely).

Did you test the HOT? The flow chart tells you how to test it in circuit.

When I test them I test them this way. In all my years if it tested bad it was bad and if it tested good it was good. However to be double sure if it tests bad, you can test it again after you remove it.

Damn. Another sad night. So I got a new fuse in for the smaller one. I also changed the HOT, because when I tested it, it was only getting 0.003 I put it all back together again and fired it up. Black screen. Nothing. Back to the flow chart. Back to discharging. Back to pulling everything back out.

I know you have all been here. I now, feel your pain.

Do you think the fuse popped again?

What was the b+ voltage measurement? Did you turn the flyback brightness knkb at all?

The fuse did pop again...

I haven't measured the b+ yet. How does one do that?

Electrohome GO-7 - (120vdc) check with black meter lead on chassis ground and red lead on the white wire closest to the tube of the ceramic resistor that is on the left side of the chassis frame.

Adjusted B+ and changed VR and...

THANK YOU ALL!!! ❤️❤️❤️

It should also be noted that if the small fuse is blown, there is a very good chance that the larger Filter Cap will have a charge and it should be discharged. Using a light bulb is a good way to discharge it.
