My sister's Ms Pacman G07 stopped working. I replaced the capacitors and flyback and now the monitor is working. But now there is a vertical line/bar that scrolls from the right moving to the left. It was not there before.

Does anybody know what might cause this or what I need to do to fix it?

Some of the capacitors I replaced had a higher volt, this should not have affected it would it?

This is all new to me so any help is appreciated.

Thanks

You've got a hum bar, it's usually acquired from a dirty/worn out edge connector, or blown/dirty fuses and/or fuse block. I just recently fixed my pacman with this issue by replacing the fuse block and cleaning the edge connector profusely.

You can use an eraser to clean the edge connector pins on the PCB. If the plastic molex hasn't been replaced yet, you'll probably want to do that. Before doing anything, I'd check the fuses though. If they work, use a scotch brite to clean the contacts. Bob Roberts sells the replacement molex and a new fuse block for like $9 so it's a pretty cheap fix.

If none of the above eliminates it, make sure the power plug has the ground prong running through it. Not having the earth ground can cause some funky issues and I actually had a minor hum bar because the power cord was missing the ground prong. Replaced it and the hum bar was gone. Now that you mention it, I think it was missing the ground plug. I did notice an audible hmm from the speakers as well. I'll make sure I check that next time I'm at my sisters.

Thanks for everybody's help
