it used to turn on to a perfect picture.

now it comes up blurry and dark, but within 1-2 minutes it looks perfect.

is this a sign of something about to fail? I suppose I could cap it and change the flyback and probably be good huh?

Has it been recapped? Is it still running it's original flyback? Has the tube been tested?

no but I could put it on the rejuvenator and I do think it's all original.
not certain though.

guess I will get it recapped reflybacked rejuved. :)

If you want, I have a tested/working/ready-to-go G07 rebuilt with hi-temp Nichicon brand capacitors, bench tested for at least 24 hours that I'll swap out for you for $80 shipped in the CUSA

i can vouch for peale, he does good work, helped me get one of my G07's working like new again. And its still working ...been about 6 months.

Replace flyback and recap. If it looks good don't mess with rejuving it. You can damage the tube. You will shorten the life of it.. If it looks good, why mess with the tube?

yeah I agree, I just need to put a flyback on cap kit on it.

Hmm, I have the same problem on my G07 in my Bagman. But the colors do look good. I did re-cap it but still takes more than 1 minute to come up bright. So the Flyback, huh?....
Ok, at least G07 flybacks are easy to find. Good luck.

I need to stress a couple things here:

1) A CAP KIT IS NOT A CURE ALL. As well as capping I always resolder the entire neckboard, power supply and any other suspect joints. This fixes many MANY issues.

2) Most commercial cap-kits do not replace all the caps. Sometimes it's not an issue, sometimes it is - especially on a monitor of that vintage. I always replace ALL the caps.
