So first off, I can't complain if this monitor is shot or going bad...I got it for $10 from a guy out of a Trivia Quiz cabinet. Now on to the problem...

I hooked the monitor up to my Ms Pac test bench set up...Turned it on and it took awhile for a picture to come up. Once the picture came up I started adjusting some pots. I turned, I think, the vertical hold pot.....and out of nowhere comes a loud pop and some smoke. I checked out the boards and nothing is fried or visibally damaged..and the monitor still has a picture on it. Now theres a hissing noise seems to be coming from the deflection yoke. Almost sounds like a flat tire.

After coming upstairs I stepped on one of the rubber wedges that goes between the deflection yoke and monitor itself...could that have caused it? I didn't even realize the damn thing fell off in transport. I didn't bump the monitor or anything....I think it was just loose.

The wedge doesn't matter. Usually on a G07 a pop and smoke is from the original flyback blowing up, but if your monitor still works, it's probably not that (unless you can see an arc coming from the flyback, though they usually catastrophically blow up). I've also had one of the larger caps do that (IIRC it was C411, but I could be remembering wrong)... but if that's it, look closely... you should notice a cap with a bulged top.
