I have a G07 that has troubles turning on. When power is applied, I can hear a high pitched pulse.. sounds like high voltage, but screen will not turn on. Power on off a couple times, wait for it to warm up, then voila, pulsing turns into a constant tone and image comes up.

Flyback on it's way out, or something else?

Most likely old caps and cold solder, but if the flyback is original, you need to replace it when you do the cap kit and rebuild...

Please follow what Mod is preaching as originals will 'splode after a cap kit. Not "if" but "when".

Sounds exactly like a G07-CAO I just rebuilt. It came in, would have high voltage, but wouldn't fire up. Then it started making these pulsing noises. I thought it was getting ready to dump, so I killed it before that happened. I kept testing things. Once I didn't get to shut it down in time, and the pulsing stopped and it fired up. A clear indicator of a thermal issue of some kind.

So I retouched every solder joint on the board, and have not had the issue since.

As stated, if you're going to cap it, replace the flyback on this model. It's 30 years old and is tired. Let it rest.
