G07 - Flyback issue or more?

Hello folks. I picked up an Arkanoid (or rather Tournament Arkanoid) with monitor issues. Specifically, the image is ultra wavy and saturated, and the brightness looks cranked. The image is also stretched too large. It's hard to tell, but I think there's a curl on the left side too so I may have to do the sync mod.

Monitor is a G07-CAO. I was going to do a new flyback + capkit but should I do more? I was also wondering how different capping a CAO is versus a CBO? Is the sync mod the same? (I understand there are differences?)

Video of issue:

Also, a couple pics are attached (looks like there is gunk coming out of the flyback housing?)

Unfortunately there is noticable burn in :( But i'd like to get the monitor back up and running.

that's NOT a G07. it must be a import replacement. post some good pictures of the whole chassis or check it for name/numbers.

Thanks. I'm glad I posted, then. So probably it's a G07 frame but someone swapped the chassis at some point?

I took some hopefully better pictures. My basement is poorly lit and my phone camera sucks, so it's difficult taking good pics.

Happy to get my stuff from security0001 once I know what I need!

I'm wondering if it's some sort of Wei-ya chassis? The heatsink and the metal part around the flyback seems similar...

Has an Eygo label on the side. Looks very similar to the Wei Ya 820H (or HR i guess, since it uses a remote board). Is there a specific location on the monitor main board that I could find a model number? Neckboard says "720 H CRT"

Where would I even begin to find a new flyback for this thing?

I just went through this. Similar looking but different Eygo/Wei ya/Pro max chassis.

Have you tried adjusting it? Mine had absolutely *jacked* adjustments when I got it and I think some dirty pots on the remote board. Some time spent adjusting/cleaning might help.

I got mine to a decent static image but it had a weird varying brightness that evidently is common with these knock off chassis. If you're planning on spending any money on it you'd be better served buying a real g07 chassis. There have been a ton of them on here lately, either refurbished for $130 or untested for $65, give or take.

I resisted that advice at first because my tube has a lot of burn but it's got nice color and I found a nice clean and complete untested chassis for $65. Needs a horizontal freq pot, probably some others but it works and I'd rather work on the real thing.

i have all the exact fitting G07 pots if you need in stock.

i would agree very similar to the 820 series except yours must have a remote pcb.

Thanks for all the responses. I am going to try to find a proper G07 chassis like beerNpretzels suggests rather than mess with this thing.

Are there any specific G07 chassis that I need to look for or will any work?

G07-CBO electrohome chassis

I will have another one with the works, fully rebuilt in 3-4 days. I like to test them for a bit prior to shipping them out.

I wonder if there is a schematic of this chassis somewhere? I'm curious to see what kind of caps are on the output side of the power supply?

My guess with these things is that they have very little in the way of regulation which is seen when the screen gets really bright and things bounce around.

My idea is that maybe adding a good sized cap on the output side of the power supply might be enough to keep the b+ stabilized and minimize the bouncing? Of course too big of a cap would put a strain on the supply at power up and could blow things up.

Just a thought.

Google it, it's out there. I've studied it many times. 😀

tron guy, if you'll have one for sale i'd definitely be interested.

gamefixer, I'm pretty sure the flyback is going, as there is gunk oozing out of the top. :(

is the gunk soft or hard? If its hard it just might be epoxy. If its soft, yeah... Could be the flyback going south.
