I'm sure the info must be here somewhere but I'm not having alot of luck finding an answer to my question.

I am going to help a friend replace a flyback tommorow. What other parts are likely to be bad when the flyback goes?

When the flyback fails, it almost always takes out the small fuse and the HOT. I rarely have to replace voltage regulators, but it's a possibility. Do a cap kit while you're in there. I've never needed the "sync upgrade" either.

Sync upgrade only takes about a minute to do while it's already out, and it would take 10 minutes if you had to pull it back out due to a problem, do the upgrade, then put it back in, so I just do it anyway.

Ad for the chassis, if the flyback blew, then take a new flyback, small fuse, complete cap kit, and HOT (with mica insulator). While a VR might be bad (especially if this went bad due to no isolation transformer), it's not a typical failure with the flyback.

And you might need a new R908, too...
