G07-FBO repair

It had a weird smell to it. Like cigarettes, barn, and acid. I had to pick off chicken feathers before I removed it from the monitor.

My first major monitor fail. I replaced all the burnt parts plus all the basic maintenance stuff. New flyback smoked. B+ is 156v. Not sure what to do. Totally pissed off at this thing.

The new flyback had smoke coming out of it?
Did you change R908?
If your b+ is high you should test T501, and the voltage regulator. In circuit is fine. Ohms setting for T501, bottom of the chassis, the side with 3 pins in a row, one lead on the middle pin, one lead on the bottom pin. It should read around 50 ohms. VR, set meter to diode, red lead on the pin with the red wire, alternate the black lead between the other pin and the case. Should read around .490.

There is no R908. This is a FBO. I've never worked on one of these before.

Voltage regulator is new and measures about .6

I'm not following you on T501.

Ha, been awhile since I've seen an fbo. Your image has T501 on the left, and 3 pins on the right. Measure the 2 that are soldered , on the right, ohms setting. Should be 50ish

Also, keep in mind with the FBO, this is for the 13" tube, and replacing the flyback will result in not being able to fill the entire screen with the image as was possible with the original flyback.

Just didn't want you to think something was broken…it's normal.

Thanks,
Jason

I did my homework. I added the caps to c531 and c532 to fix that.

I removed the caps from c531 and c532 to get the width back to normal. I'm only hearing very very slight ringing from the flyback, so I'm just going to keep using the old one.

Just to make it even more messed up, The B+ is now 123V with the original flyback installed.

I just bought a Sencore CM2000 Computer Monitor Analyzer. We'll see what it says after it arrives. I kind of wanted one anyway, so I have an excuse.

pins
6 & 7: 28 Good
6 & 10: 33 Good
7 & 10: 33 Good
4 & 5: 8 Bad (less than 10 rings so it says it's bad when it's not)
1 & 3: 37 Good
