I have a solar fox cabaret that needed a cap kit (I thought)

so I capped it, changed the flyback, filter cap, pots, and fuses. the flyback is a used but working g07 cbo flyback.

anyway, the screen has too much red first off. when I make the adjustment to the pots on the neck board it does little to change.

When I adjust the bottom pot for the flyback, I expect it to go very bright or very dark. It goes kind of bright and shows lines on the screen as you'd imagine, but when you turn it allthe way down it just gets very very red, not dark at all. slightly darker maybe, but really really red.

The neckboard was cracked but repaired, and seems to be repaired just fine with the continuity tests I did with it.

Before I did the cap kit, etc. the flyback adjustment pots were acting exactly the same as they are now.

any ideas what the hell is going on?

Go over all of your traces, especially around the flyback, and the cracks on the neckboard. Perhaps improve the jumpers. Make sure the NP caps are actually NP.

I recently fixed a G07-CBO that the brightness wouldn't turn down. The NP's were replaced with P's during the cap kit, a lot of the bridges over the cracked neckboard needed improving, and I found a few other cracks and cold solder issues that needed cleaning up. Once I took care of all that, the brightness operated as normal and the picture looked great...

ok I didn't even look at the np caps since bob didn't send any with this kit. I suppose I have a g07 cbo kit that should have a couple of extras. the solder around the flyback is good I believe. I did do a little 'improvement/touch up' to the jumpers the previously operator did on the neckboard, but I better give it a good lengthy redo it looks like.
thanks

while you are at it, test the tube and make sure none of the guns are shorted.

lol, funny you say that.

My intent was to rejuve that bitch while I had the chassis off. straight up forgot.
thanks

I will report back in an hour or so.

I'm surprised that no one brought this up - you've got an FBO, but you put a CBO flyback in it.

A lot of the time it will work fine; but there have been instances where introducing a CBO flyback introduces issues that replacing the original flyback corrects.

*shrug* worth a shot, if nothing else fixes it.

I was reading my kozmik krooz'r manual a few weeks back and for some reason it discussed the 13" fbo and the 19" cbo and how the flybacks were NOT compatible. I asked bob about this and he said it is bogus. Just a way to sell through part numbers.

I would put a new flyback in anyway. New caps and an old flyback is not good.

I suppose I could throw a new one in there. may as well.

Ok I was going to put it in the rejuvenater but the tube # comes up needing attachment # 28 for my 467. I don't have 28. 23 fits. I am not going to fire it up with 23 on there unless someone can confirm it is an acceptable alternative.
I don't expect it would be, but maybe one of you guys knows?

There's a thread that Modesitt started a while back about this very issue, do a search.

well bob sells 1 flyback for all g07's, not sure what chad does.

I put the new fly in just now. I guess i will go and test it without rejuving it.

Anyone know if I can use adapter 23 (like I would for a cbo) vs adapter 28 like they are asking for? I sense the answer is no, but who knows right?

on page 60 of this manual it shows the locations of wires to the pins on the neck of hte tube. I think I've drawn the conclusion that I cannot use #23 in the place of #28.

edit: it wouldn't let me copy and paste the manual on here. anyway, can't use it the way I read it.

There is only just the one new repro flyback. What I'm saying is that if you still can't get it to work, put the old flyback in and see if that corrects things.

I have the same problems, original flyback, cbo flyback, and new flyback.

reworked the solder all over the place.

I have the same problem. The brightness knob looks more like a red color adjustment knob. when it's turned all the way up you get all the lines you expect and it turns somewhat blueish.
turned all the way down, turns red with streaking letters.

I am going to pull all of hte new parts off of this thing and toss it I think.
Also have a fucking huge hula wave since the beginning, hasn't gone away.

Wait...what's the B+?

haven't measure it and I can't say I know how to on this monitor.
I don't think there is an adjustment pot in the same position (or at all) like there is on a cbo.
