starting a new thread on this.....i have a g07-cbo that blows f901 on startup everytime so far here's what's been done

checked all transistors
checked all resistors
replaced flyback 2x
multiple new hots
multiple new VR
new mica TO3 insulators
checked for shorts between the frame and hot/vr
reflowed most solder
checked for solder splash on backside of board.
all new caps

still blows f901 everytime.....i'm at my wits end.

I have been struggling with the same problem. But, I think I found out my problem. Although I don't have a way to test it, I think my neck must have a small crack in it. As Modessitt mentioned, I get some blue light in the neck right before the fuse blows. The fuse blows almost immediately but if I just apply power for a split second I can see the blue before the fuse blows. I bought a working chassis and plugged it in and it did the same thing. So, I have two chassis that I have gone through almost everything with no luck, then one I purchased that was working and the tube blew all three. If I hook up the chassis without putting on the neck board, the fuse does not blow. Don't know if the absence of a load would make it blow anyway but it seems like everything together points to the tube. I hope to find another G07 monitor to know for sure.

i tested another working chassis on my tube, fired right up. i have a short somewhere that's not noticeable.

yup, i'll try it tonight. i'm open to any suggestions at this point. last night i was doing continuity tests looking for cracks and found none.
