ok i have a g07 thats dead. No neck glow or anything. upon further inspection i noticed that c905 had one leg missing. so i replaced it and ended up hitting the filter cap at c904 with my iron. It made a big bang and discharged. i put the chassis back in and its still dead. The fuses are both good so should i just replace the rest of the caps and hope for the best or is there something else i should be looking at. oh and i put in another G07 chassis that i repaired awhile back it works so i know the tube is good.

go7

Sounds like you have a bad hot, and or flyback. Do you see a crack around the flyback casing or a bulge in it?
Usually when that large filter cap stays charged the high voltage section is bad. I would check that small fuse again with a meter but discharge that cap again first. That cap will charge back up again even after you dicharged it once and it will give you a good tickle again. Anytime you power up a go7 and it does not fire up, dicharge that cap as it will knock you back a good few feet.

well i think i can see a smalll hairline crack in the back of the flyback. it also has a very small amout of brown stuff comming out of it. so guess the flyback it toast. if so is it safe to say that the hots gone too and shouldnt it have taken out the small fuse with it.

Life is simple friend, if you have anything coming out of the fly it IS BAD.

You have at a minimum a bad HOT, but most likely your flyback is bad too.

What did your meter read when you tested the little fuse?

You definitely have to discharge that cap before testing the fuse... I've had a couple (cheaper) meters say the small fuse was fine until I discharged that cap.

my meter beeps when its good. i read somewhere that testing the hot you put one lead on the frame and the other on the hot leg. i just dont rememer what one or if this is even right.

i believe you're thinking about testing if the insulator is good or not. To test the hot read this webpage. http://www.pinrepair.com/g07/

your best bet is to do a g07 deluxe kit, its easier than you'd think
