Was cap-kitting the G07 on my Centipede and I came across Bob Roberts' notes to do a mod to the cap configuration. I found this described on the internet as the "curl-mod" and is supposed to be needed for newer games PCB's ?

Would the Centi need this or benefit ?

I don't think it's just for newer games, but for the G07. If your game has some curl, do it. I just do it all the time now when capping one, regardless of whether it had curl or not...

Okay, I know I've seen this before, but I can't find the article on Bob's site. Can someone post a link to it.

Thanks!

I just did a cap kit and the mod and I still have curl on my centipede. The whole screen seems to dip to the right starting from around the center of the screen. The Atari logo at the bottom droops quite a bit. I tried adjusting Hor Freq and Vert Line and nothing seems to correct it... Any ideas?

Thanks

Nope - i didnt. Sounds like Im going to have to pull the monitor again then. Its reallly cramped in there after you place in back in the centipede cab.

If the H Freq is off a hair after a cap kit it will do the exact same thing. Check the B+ as Mod has stated, but also try tweaking the H Freq.

This is what Alligator Jumper wires are for. Shut the cab off and attach the jumper from the test point to the red lead, then a jumper from the frame to the black lead, then turn it on. Adjust the pot on the chassis with a plastic adjustment tool while reading the meter...

I have a rally-x with a G07 and it curls about 2" from the top. I plan on recapping the monitor so i will definitely do this mod.

Where can one acquire said 'plastic adjustment tool'? I've seen this mentioned many times, but don't know where to find one. the shack doesn't have them.

The shack has had them in the past. They call them "TV Adjustment Tools"....

Good luck with that... I checked several local RadioShacks here and they didn't have them. I actually looked for them instead of asking the shortbus screw that works there if they had them. If you're going need to do a mod to the monitor anyways, might as well snag the set of tools from Bob Roberts.

Did you check your B+?

Tested and just a hair off. Got to as close as 120vDC as I could. Still see curl though. I guess I can live with it. Would the next step be to replace the Hor.Freq. pot?

So, adjusting the horizontal freq/hold does nothing?

And you're sure you did the mod properly (10u50v electrolytic in C303 with positive lead towards the outside edge of the chassis, and then C303 moved to C501 and C501 taken out tossed)?

And B+ adjustment doesn't help (did your tiny tweak have any effect)?

Let's see a pic of the curl...
