Thia is continued from the "Chris Rhoades is the man!" thread in the main discussion forum (link).

Issue:

There is no neck glow and they seem to be having trouble in the high voltage section. On the RF G07 flowchart:

Blank screen -> F901 OK -> F902 OK -> Voltage check = Too high (167V) -> Remove X701. Voltage still too high -> Horizontal deflection failure. Check for cracks = No. Check for bad solder joints = No. -> voltage on X01 = 166.5V

I have not tried to test X501 or substitute IC501 yet. I was going to make a run to Fry's to see if they had any x501 (looks like NTE198 is the replacement) transistors. It looks like IC501 is something of a specialty item (HA11244).

But there is definitely no Hi Voltage going to the anode. When I attempt to discharge it, there is no spark, even immediately after testing it.

See if this repair log helps at all. I made this when I was fixing my G07 using mostly info from the threads here on KLOV. I was getting the same voltage issue you have and replaced x901/x902 to fix it. Did the screen work when you removed x701?

Thanks for the info. I need to read it again and see how it matches up.

The screen did not work when X701 was removed.

I just had one that was having the same issues... It's the IC, at least it was on mine... you have the exact same measurements I had. Shame the ICs are so expensive, I just had to rob one from another G07 to get the monitor to where it should be.

Yep... IC501...

If you find any for really cheap, lemme know... I'll go in on a few of them with you. I need to replace at least one on the monitor I just robbed and I'd like to keep them on hand so I don't have to go through that again.

I was hoping it wouldn't be the IC. A quick check turned up nothing but the data sheet and the usual "we have every chip that has ever existed" suppliers in China.

If I find some, I will be more than happy to share the wealth. Once I am sure I have my monitors working ;)

Moderator: Please move this post to the monitor repair forum. I fumble moused it into the wrong forum.

Thanks.

I may have found some of the IC chips. I just ordered 4. We'll see what I get. Their order site said ground shipping 5-7 days.

I love ordering over the Internet, but I want a Star Trek replicator for that total instant gratification feeling.

still waiting.....

How much did they cost? The ones I've seen are in the neighborhood of $14 a piece.

When you factor in a rebuild kit and a $14 chip, I'm about $4 away from just getting an 8-liner chassis and calling it a day. lol

SIDENOTE: If it's not the IC on your chassis, I'm going to feel like a real asshole... just a heads up.

Probably the same place I found. You might as well wait and see what shows up before ordering. No sense in both of us getting AC wall adapters :).

The other places I found ranged from $14 to $27 for the same chip, so hopefully these are just leftovers they want to blow out. Obviously it is not a hugely popular chip.

UPDATE: I got the HA11244 chips from the vendor. The taga on them look right. I dodn't have time to play with the chassis this weekend, maybe this week I will socket the chassis and try the chips.

I was able to get the X901, HOT and voltage regulator transistors from Fry's. Still need to find the X902. If this doesn't work, Mod may be getting a package in the mail shortly....

After looking at these two chassis, I think I can see why they ended up sitting on the shelf. The last owner tried the easy fixes and when that didn't work, just shelved them.

Hard to say why they were shelved. I had a bunch that were shelved simply because I had too many other things to do. A couple of nights ago I pulled 5 G07's, and went 4 for 5. Number 5 pissed me off so bad, that I boxed it up and sent it off. I still have 2 more waiting in the wings to do. Might look at them today. I have 1 that just won't sync up for shit, and it is going to become a donor chassis. Yeah, I am G07 chassis poor.

Long Overdue Update: I finally got around to dropping the IC chip into one of the chassis. I put a socket in while I was at it. It immediately blew the little fuse (F901) when I plugged it in :(. When I discharged the tube, I got a spark! Yea! Forward progress. :)

Next I need to check the HOT. The flyback looked good. I ran out of time yesterday.
