G07 broken dag wire

Where did it break? Is it just the wire that's soldered to the spring/strap, or did the spring break?

Exact configuration of the dag ground wire is not important. What is important is that whatever you use is firmly held against the tube to make contact with the conductive coating on the bell of the tube. And it must be connected to the neckboard. Some monitors don't have that kind of spring, but instead use a series of metal fingers from the frame to the tube.

This one had that flat peice of metal for about half the tube, then was attached to the spring. It's the small metal peice that broke. It was old. I was able to stretch the spring accross the tube from corner to corner and attach the wire from the neck board to that. I did not want to turn it on until someone could confirm that this was OK.

As long as it is making good contact with the coating, it's fine. The flat metal strap might have done a better job at it than the spring did, but as long as the spring is tight against the tube, it will work.

Speaking of that thing with the metal fingers, the donor tv i had has one of those on it. I kind of figured that's what it was for as I did not see the dag wire. I will stick that on it just for a bit of assurance.
