I've got a G07 chassis that I capped a couple months back that is arcing between the anode cap and the tube. Even with it arcing, the monitor works fine and looks great. I tried using dielectric grease on the anode cap and cleaned the area with alcohol but it's still arcing and hissing. What can I do to stop this?

Can it be seen as well as heard ?

I have 2 cabs Ms pac and Galaga that do the same thing... The start out really hissy and then end up dieing down after a while.

Nether one of them is bad enough to be seen with the lights off or heard loudly with the back door on...

I tried cleaning out the anode hole on the tube and still the same shit.

I just dont worry about it cuz it doesnt cause any problems.

You can hear it more than you can see it so it's very minor. Looks and sounds fine with the back door on. I'm just concerned it might get worse.

I guess I'll try cleaning it again really good and make sure the seal between the cap and tube is nice and snug.

Thanks,
Steve

1) check that the wire on the back of the focus/brightness pot is soldered well.

2) make sure the "clip" inside the anode cup is connected well to the wire...

Also make sure that the area around the anode hole is very clean. Clean the cap too. Obviously, discharge the tube before cleaning!

Got a chance this morning to work on this monitor. Cleaned off both the anode cap and tube with isopropyl alcohol, checked the wire behind the focus/brightness pot to make sure it's soldered well and reapplied dielectric grease to the anode cap and tube.

Installing the anode cap back on, I checked to make sure the clips were both going into the hole and realized one of the clips was slipping out. Looks like the new flyback I have has shorter clips compared to others. Bent the clips to prevent it from slipping and pushed the anode cap closer to the tube to get the clips in good.

Works great now. Thanks guys!

Steve
