G07-ABO

I fixed it! Sort of, it was my own stupidity that broke it, I plugged a ground wire to the wrong location on the neck board, once I plugged it into a different location (which I am not sure it's correct) I got a picture! But I cannot adjust it to be right and I think it's cause of the B+ acting up

If anyone has any ideas for me to try please let me know!

Edit the issue was sync wire for my tpg was in the wrong spot, now it's stable but I cannot get it adjusted and the B+ is seems to be stuck at 110v I cannot get it higher, so something must be out of wack in that area

Okay I got new caps and got them installed but for some odd reason the B+ is stuck at 109v I cannot adjust it with the B+ pot, does anyone have any ideas on what I could check?

I have to check my notes, but since the layout is virtually the same as the cbo....I'd test X901, and X902, in circuit should be fine.

checked both and they tested fine out of circuit, while soldering them back in i noticed bad joints on the filter cap, fixed that and plugged everything back in and turned the power on but i was getting nothing, for some reason the power on my power supply was down all the way, so i turned it up to 120v and as i did something started smoking, not sure what yet but i will edit this reply with what if i dont get other replies

okay so R517 is what was smoking but the monitor is working fine now, just cant adjust the B+

You had a spare 180k resistor on hand?

And it didn't smoke again?

Edit, I see you have recapped it, and previously you had 120Vdc on the b+?

Forgive me for not going back and rereading . Have you recapped it yet? If not, that could contribute to your B+ issue? How about the B+ pot, is it original?
i pulled one from another chassis, it has been fully recapped, B+ pot has been replaced

Wait, does that thing have 2 voltage regulators on it?

And who is to say that 120vdc is what this chassis is supposed to be set at? hmmm

i am not sure i will get a picture, as for the 120v i am basing it on others and the stickers on the metal work, thats the issue with this chassis its rare and there is no documentation on it any where, i even talked to someone on facebook who worked for electrohome back in the day but didnt have anything on it but they knew of it

It looks like there are 2 VRs to me. I would measure them both in diode test. Put the red lead on the red wire, and move the black lead to the other leg, and then the case, should be a .500ish reading. Do this to both VRs.

A g07 should look almost as good at 110vdc as it does at 120vdc. I mean probably not perfect, but not too far off from perfect.

That doesn't mean we don't want to get to the bottom of this, but it should look pretty damn good at 110vdc on the B+.

This is a 25inch g07, the picture was looking great until something happened and I could no longer adjust the B+ and now it's all wonky, there should be some pictures on the previous page if not I can post one, it's not full screen and I can't adjust that either

Is it that odd sync looking issue that is still happening? That won't be because the B+ is too low. Those images you just posted show the b+ pot, only turned less than 1/2 way to max. I'm sure you were
just messing with it back and forth.

i was and no matter which way i turn it, it does not affect the B+, where as before it did

Did you take a look at the left side of that chassis? I'd love to see a pic of it (the outside), to see if there are 2 VRs present. Did you get a chance to take those measurements I mentioned on them?

Also I'd change R908 . That looks original. THat's the first thing I check/change when B+ is off. I always change it no matter what.

I haven't measured those yet I am assuming you mean the ones in this picture, I will check 908 and see if it's out of spec or not

Ha, yes those. I thought I saw 2 of those on there. Super cool. Man this one could be analyzed to possibly convert a g07 to a 25" chassis. I'd be interested in your yoke measurements at some point as well.

R908 should be 47K. ALmost guaranteed it's out of spec. (almost)

its reading 8.10k which is very out of spec, but then again without a schematic for this exact chassis it could be correct for it, there is so much different on here its hard to say whats the same as the 19inch model and this one

yep, thats the cause, and the fix.

cool

Shoot me a pm, I can send something to you.

edit: this one needs to be pulled out to test. (one leg at least)
