Please help! I am pulling my hair out on this #$%^&*(#@ monitor,
I've been trying to get this G05-805 working. I've checked all my voltage test points(including P100) and they test fine, but no picture. I do not feel a static build up when powered up. Tried the brightness and focus controls- no good. I even replaced the rectifier in line of the HV wire to tube. I also plugged it in to my working Battlezone, still no pic. Plugged my BZ monitor into the Asteroids cab that the G05 came from and have a nice pic. so I know PCB/wiring is good.
The tube has a strange white/blue glow deep inside neck(not to be confused with the standard orange glow of heater at end of neck). If I discharge HV(using screwdriver w/grounding wire) I only get a very small spark, no big snap/arc.
If my boards check ok, is there a way to check the tube, and is there a way to test the flyback without fancy/expensive tools? Anybody have any Ideas!?!?
Thanks for any help
Aaron

From that description, it sounds like the tube is bad and arcing internally. You could try swapping the monitor boards into your Battlezone monitor to test them. If you determine that the tube is bad, as a last resort you could try putting the monitor on its face and tapping the neck with a screwdriver handle. Of course you have to be very careful, but if there's a short in the tube, sometimes that will dislodge it and it'll work again. If you can find someone w/ a rejuvenator, they could probably test it and possibly fix it for you as well.

GO5-805 Tube or flyback?--Update w/fix

I swapped out the EHT(high voltage unit)from a friends Astroids and have nice clean picture. Since I replaced about every part in the EHT, I am lead to believe the flyback is toast.
Thanks to all for your help
