No, The Braze High Score save kit will not bypass the ROMs, it's just an add on board and doesn't remove anything. The kit does include a new vector rom chip which contains version 2, but it doesn't seem likely that it would fix the issue your describing.

I guess it wouldn't hurt to give it a shot, and you will at least have high score save.

Are you sure it won't bypass the roms? That's disappointing. I thought maybe it did since it modifies the program code to add the highscore save and other code mods.

Not true... he's running his own patched code (how else would you get extended scoring and bug fixes?). A quote from his installation page:

"As a side note, if you want, you can also remove the old code eproms."

And I'd recommend you do that (as they will suck some power even though they are not actively used).

That makes sense and is more in line with what I was thinking. I wonder what other components also get replaced by that board. I'm still debating about ordering the HS save kit. It seems like there's a chance it would fix my problem....but perhaps not much of a chance.

And I don't care that much about high-score saves really.
