I've had suspicions that that transistor list may not be 100% accurate (or something else is going on). I looked into this a while ago, for this same problem with G05-802's.
The 802 deflection boards are silkscreened for TIS98 (which is also what's listed in the parts list). However, many of them came with TPS98's from the factory, but installed backwards (i.e., opposite of the silkscreen, in terms of the physical orientation, or which direction the round side of the transistor faces). I've seen original boards both ways.
I use MPSA06's in 802's, but installed backwards from the silkscreen. This works, but shouldn't, according to that transistor list. However it was consistent with what I found by looking at the datasheets.
