monitor works great but when you turn it off the beam spot zig zags for a second. Have other monitors and have it narrowed to the deflection board. searching online some say it could be a spot killer circuit problem. I don't think this is normal as my other monitors simply turn off.

have reflowed
have removed R100 & R101
have done cap kit

still testing components but haven't came across anything yet that sticks out besides Q503. Don't want to start shot gunning parts or taking the deflection board in and out after every step but it may come down to it unless someone has had this problem before. I cannot find any threads on this.

Problem in the spot killer circuit. Inspect that area closely. Replace C500/1/2/3, and make sure they are all installed correctly. Replace Q500/1/2.

Most importantly, make sure Q500/1/2 are the correct types, and are installed in the right direction. This may differ from what is shown on the board, depending on the silkscreen, and what types of transistors you have installed. See this post for details:

Here are additional threads that discuss this topic:

can't thank you enough andrewb or should I say Master Yoda. Removed each transistor and they seemed to test ok but replaced. used MPSA05's but will get me some 06's in the house. used a 2N3906 at Q502.
I did find a factory solder hole where it looks like it didn't get soldered all the way at R515 on the side that connects to C504 so added solder there. wished Id tested again before adding solder to confirm cooked transistors per some of your other posts.

still a nervous noob, I should of just went for it but being very cautious with these vectors with each new problem I see since we only got so many left. don't want to put heat to a board unless I have some direction I'm going and wasn't sure on this one so thank you again.
