G05-801 - G05-802 Adapter Needed

I considered that, but that seems much more risky, since I have never swapped a tube before, and there's a good chance the electronics in the 801 are bad as well, whereas I really do believe the 802 is working.

This isn't like tube swapping from a TV... it's just a matter of pulling the anode wire and yoke connector.

I should still have a handful of spare B&W tubes hiding in the attic.

Understood, but there's no guarantee the electronics work. It seems more prudent to keep the 802 intact, source the adapter harness, and then get the thing running. Once running, I could source a tube from someone like yourself, maybe get the 801 running, put it back in, and then sell (or keep as a spare) the 802 and the adapter.

I just feel the harness is a less risky and easier option for someone who has no B&W vector monitor tester, does not absolutely know the Asteroids PCB is functional, is pretty sure the 802 monitor works but all bets would be off if he moved it to an unknown 801 chassis, and could damage the tube in the process.

Is there some specific reason moving the tube to the 801 is preferred over just wiring up an adapter to a known working 802?

Jim
