I want to know if anyone else is having this issue. almost eveytime I buy a fly I have to bend the pins to match the holes. worked with some that slide right in but this last one sucked, I had to move all the pins to make it line up.

almost all the ones i did,i had to pre-fit the pins to the board first.bending them usually out. what can you say. made in china.

yeah it's a struggle,

it was the greatest day of my life one day last year when I pulled a new one out of teh box and it dropped right in with no adjustment.

I think what I did last time was took the old flyback and pushed it onto a piece of cardboard. And used that to line up the pins of the new one. But yea, the last few I did were like that.

I love this idea. Will give it a try next time!

Like guys have said, this is not only G07s, I have to do it with all flybacks.

Just replaced a G07 fly this AM, and same thing, had to tweak a few pins. Not too bad, though.

Desoldering those buggers is a PITA, that's for sure.

I usually desolder all the pins then add some fresh solder and then suck the remainder of the old solder out and the flyback just pops out, most of the time.

Now you've got me curious. I'm pretty sure that I could do it.

Consider the gauntlet thrown. 4 minutes. No cheating. No, you can't clip the focus wire. It can't be a fly you just installed. It has to have 30 year old solder on it.

It can't be done. Even if I really put my hands to it, I can't pull one in less than 5 minutes without man-handling the pcb. If I wanted to be sloppy and careless, maybe 4:45. But it's 20-30 seconds per pin, and there's the screws & focus wire. No way you're dropping it in less than 4 minutes :D

ok now we have to see this video of the four minute flyback pull, with a timer in the corner.
Mikebetz42, you have been challenged! :)

This is frustrating - I don't have any AA batteries that my camera will currently accept for video. Just cheapie ones that work fine for photos, but once I turn my camera to video mode, the camera shuts off.

My setup is all set to do this, but I don't have any way to submit video proof. Sorry.

I will, however, try it anyway, and I'll post about it afterward, good or bad. Because, now, I'm curious.

Here's my setup:

Aoyue 474 Desoldering unit, with the large tip
Weller soldering pencil. I forget which model.
Screwdriver, Phillips, sitting on the side.

One kitchen timer, set for four minutes

One virgin G07-CBO chassis.

I can snap a photo or two of what's what, but hopefully you guys trust me enough at my word.

Back in a few with how it goes. Wish me luck!
