Ok, I took a G-07 in trade on a working TM202 G. It had supposedly stopped working after they moved the machine.

Powered it up on my test bench. Heard the degauss circuit kick in. Got no picture or neck glow. Powered it off after about 45 seconds. Once I powered it off a section of the monitor about an inch and a half of center started glowing blue and stayed that way for several minutes.

Ideas?

After all this time in the hobby, I'm surprised that you don't know about that one. Those are the electron guns firing off in the neck, and with no yoke to drive them, they'll fire in the middle.

When you fire it up, what's the B+ voltage?

All original? Has any work been done to it at all?

How do the solder joints look?

Eh, I only did a few monitor repairs before taking a long break from the hobby, during which I repaired tons of tv sets in my hotel maintenance position, but that particular problem never came up on the tv sets.

Only previous repair I can see is that they relocated the fuse, but I didn't really look all that closely. In fact I didn't do any troubleshooting at all. I just had about 10 spare minutes before my saturday night D&D game so I decided to power it up to see what it did.

I grew up with a TV that did that, so it was nothing new to me. In fact, it's not a "problem" it just...is.

Since it's all original, rebuild it, and I'm sure that'll straighten it right out.

I don't believe you'll be able to get rid of it, I've seen brand new TV's that have done this. It's not a problem, don't worry about it.
