Thanks for saving me the time. Yeah I've built four of the Nintendo cabarets, started with a DK Junior, then built three empty ones. I sold two of the empty ones and kept the third. Decided to turn it into a Q*bert rather than a Popeye or a Multi-vs or any of the other ideas I had. I love it and I'm planning on building a Mad Planets in the same cabinet to put next to it. To make room, I most likely will be selling my Asteroids cabaret.Q*bert Qabaret Build
So I started this as a Multi Nintendo Vs. Build, but decided to turn it into a multi Q*bert Cabaret build. I picked up Jrok Multi Mylstar PCB from Arcadeshop and a nice set of screened side art from Kinder, which it fits perfectly on this little cab. Just have to decide if I’m gonna go with...forums.arcade-museum.com

Oh, and I didn't even mention the 75 gallon water heater. It's located in the water heater closet, which is in the corner of the Arcade. In 2022, the bottom had rusted out and it started leaking water all over my Arcade floor. It was under five years old so still covered under warranty. Within 3 days I had a replacement in place with the date written across the front. The plumber told me he'll probably be back in another five years to replace that one. Are you fucking kidding me?Here we are, 4 days shy of this thread hitting 10 years old. I can't believe how quickly that decade has gone by. Seems just yesterday we moved in and my kids were still little. I remember when we didn't have a yard. I remember when we were trying to get rid of furniture that we moved over from our old house that just wouldn't fit in our new house. I remember being so excited about buying new furniture to put in the new house. On that note, I can't believe how shitty things are manufactured these days. Two of the couches we bought New for this house are already broken down and have been gotten rid of. Just yesterday, I had to replace the handleset and the electronic deadlock for our side door near the driveway. This is the second time I've replaced the handleset and the first time I've replaced the deadbolt, though the electronic portion of the deadbolt itself has not functioned for the last five years. The exterior garage lights have been replaced twice already due to the LED circuits having malfunctioned. The keypad for the security access to the garage door has malfunctioned and we are not able to reprogram it. The light fixture in my daughter's bathroom stopped working and had to been replaced. The light fixture in our walk-in closet has to be replaced. The track in my daughter's pocket door for her closet has broken. We've already had to replace the faucet on our prep sink. Though this thread is 10 years old, we've only officially lived in this house for 8 years. To think of how many things have broken or malfunctioned in that time is insane to me.
Do you ever change the anode? Changed mine after 4 years and it was nearly gone. Probably will do every 3 years going forward.Oh, and I didn't even mention the 75 gallon water heater. Why would I do that? I'm an 'as needed' Home maintenance guy. Preventative maintenance is for losers.Do you ever change the anode? Changed mine after 4 years and it was nearly gone. Probably will do every 3 years going forward.
In every case above - did you check the green wire? Here we are, 4 days shy of this thread hitting 10 years old. I can't believe how quickly that decade has gone by. That is insane. We've been in the same house for 23 years and I don't think we've had as many things fail. We even still have some fixtures that I'm pretty sure are original to the house, which was built in 1968.Here we are, 4 days shy of this thread hitting 10 years old. This is apparently one of the great things about getting old. Most old people I know stopped caring about how their house looks or if their paint or fixtures or flooring are up to date. I want to get there. But first, I want my house to be fully updated, just once.It only costs money if you actually try to repair something when it wears out.
All of the previous occupants of my 100+ year old house saved a CRAP TON of money.
They never replaced anything.
"Meh....just let it rot. We'll die in 30-40 years anyway."
Figured it was time for a news update. My oldest son Layne, (the kid on the left) was finally down in the arcade this weekend playing some Tetris with his friend. They actually played a bunch of games in the hour and a half they were down there. They also ate pizza, had soda and watched part of a horror movie with me. There might be hope for this kid after all.

What's the pizza place of choice in the Albany Avon area these days? Melrose pretty much lost any good pizza; the most popular is gas station and it's crap in my opinion. I miss when we had a dedicated pizza hut nearby. A place called funkys had good pizza too, but it closed.

JD's Taphouse is where my folks like to go. Pretty decent pizza.
Yeah, JD's is great. Cool atmosphere, great pizza, good pasta, nice bar area. They used to have a donkey Kong Junior down by the bathrooms, though it's now been removed I noticed the last time I went in there.
Are you a fellow central Minnesota guy?? I had no idea!

In December of 2001, my wife and I moved into the house she grew up in which her father built in 1979 (She only "didn't" live in this house for about 2 years). It still had the original water heater in the garage. I could not get it to drain at all as it was completely full of sediment (good ol' well water). About a year earlier I had picked up a FREE used hot water heater from someone who had upgraded (Why did I pick this up?? I have no clue. I guess because it was free). I thought since I already had it and it looked pretty good, what the hell.....let's just hook it up and see how many years we get out of it.I've been in my house for 20 years and I'm on my 4th hot water heater!
