We actually have a chainsaw artist in town who's been creating and selling sculptures for 25 years plus, but he's been through hell over the last decade or so. Apparently, he started dating a divorced mother of three. Once the ex-husband found out, he started giving his kids rat poison to put in this guy's food for like a year. The dude was so sick and had no idea why when he finally went into the doctor. That's when they found the high traces of the rat poison which was causing him internal bleeding. It was like a two or three year recovery process for him to get back on his feet. So his sculpture business has sat rotting away for the last five years. I've only recently seen him back in the shop and noticed any activity happening. He was also a former amateur wrestler and is kind of a dickhead. But I'd love to get some big chainsaw Tiki's done. I just don't know if I wanna pay the price or work with him.I think your missing something ,I made some chainsaw tikis during Covid ,they look better if you use a skill saw ,
Wow ,possibly just buy or borrow all his tools at the next garage or divorce fire sale .someday I'll get the carving chisels and take my time to do it better ,I know you have the skills to diy it with a little practice . You do awesome wood working projects. We actually have a chainsaw artist in town who's been creating and selling sculptures for 25 years plus, but he's been through hell over the last decade or so. Yeah man those look cool as hell. And do very 90s!Man those things just SCREAM 90's. I love it! Wave Runners are so fun. Nice job on sourcing the proper material in the proper color - most wouldn't have taken the time to do that. That 3M 90 adhesive will outlast us all!
My buddy was PWC mechanic,he also was a service manager at a Yamaha dealer. He used to call those SloLaris. He had my '84 550 stand up going close to 50mph. I did build a newer reed valve engine,to replace the tired piston port engine. That little thing gets squirrely at that speed. The new ones are super fast these days. Here's me and my boys on the good Polaris back in 2019. Seems like just yesterday all three of us could ride on one machine. Not anymore sadly.

Man I LOVE me some jimkirk material. Guess I haven't seen you around much pal. I hope you are well! (go HEART!)My buddy was PWC mechanic,he also was a service manager at a Yamaha dealer. I really hate biased mechanics. Everybody grows up and knows what they like and what they don't like. But in my years of driving various makes and models of everything from cars to snowmobiles to jet skis, I find that most people just talk out of their ass. Every now and then there's a known issue with some make or model that can't be denied, but for the most part, it's all preference and bias. Actually, the Polaris is one of the fastest PWC's on our lake. Most of the kids that ride the newer Trixx's are always envious of my oldest boy riding the Sea Lion Turbo. We've had it up to 50 miles an hour, but its average high is about 48. What I like most about it is it's speed and stability. The WaveRunner is very tippy, while this Polaris has a very stable base. You have to remember that this was the early 80's and Polaris was not a good product at the time. We didn't grow up with PWC. He liked the rotory valve engine of the Sea Doo. He wasn't biased at all. He just had worked on all of them and knew the Polaris was the slowest at the time. The watercraft today are all pretty fast and similar. If I were to buy a new PWC it would be the Sea Doo RXP-X 325,the fastest on the market. A lot of factors come into a PWC being fast or not. The age of the engine and aftermarket parts play a big part on the top speed. My '84 550 was pretty fast, after adding just a prop and pipe. I was smoking guys with better setups. The engine had a lot of hours and ran loose and fast. I ended up having to build a new engine, because the crank twisted and was seizing the rear piston.I really hate biased mechanics. Yeah, we did get 5 inches of rain one day and that was the first time since we've lived here that we actually had a small amount of water come through the floor in the basement. Luckily, it came through behind the theater set up in the open area by the fireplace. And since we have all vinyl planking there, there was no real damage. Just water pooling on the surface of the planking that had to be vacuumed up. We ran the vacuum about three days until all of the pooling water was gone. And then we ran the vacuum on the seams to suck the water from under the planking. We've had a dehumidifier going ever since and it's staying pretty dry down there now. Still emptying at least one tank a day tho. It was just that one freak storm we had that caused an already high water table to hydrostatically push up through the floor. There were threats of flooding this past weekend, but luckily we got through the weekend with only .8 inches of rain. In a few towns just 75-100 miles S/SW of us, they had anywhere from 8 to 10 inches fall over the weekend. So when I say lucky, I mean lucky as fuck. So crazy, 2 years ago there was a freaking drought and you had to walk out 50-60 feet past the tiki bar just to get to the water's edge.Catching up on these posts, Dear Friend. Sorry to hear about the water level. It's been non stop rain for most of the summer here too. Got back from vacation last Sunday and the grass finally died. We've now had 15 straight days without rain!
The new ride looks sweet! Does anyone remember the Sea Doo commercials of the 90's? Talk about a time capsule!
Oh shit, yeah. Glad it wasn't any worse than that.
