In order to get my Astro Blaster (no comment necessary; I know it gets low love; I really wanted an Astro Blaster) I coordinated a trip to Kansas City with an already scheduled trip to Oklahoma. The wife and I drove 380 miles from Apple Springs, Texas to Norman, OK to see Texas A&M play the Sooners in football. After the friggin' Okies pulled ahead by like 17 early in the 4th we grabbed a head start for our next destination: a storage facility in KC. That was 370 miles. The drive home from there was 642. That's 1392 miles, though we were gonna do that football game, anyway, and so the net distance for Astro Blaster was actually 632.

It was a good trip, despite the outcome of the game. We experienced our first earthquake, and Oklahoma's first in like 80 gazillion years. We woke in the motel room to the walls shaking and I hypothesized that one of the motel's commerical-sized washing machines was unbalanced and causing a water pipe to vibrate. We learned the truth via Missouri radio some 18 hours later. We hit virtually every toy store from Norman to KC and back to Texas for our girls' Santa Claus. And I got home with as pretty an Astro Blaster as anyone is likely ever to see. Seriously. The most solid $200 I've yet spent for this hobby. Not counting gasoline.

A few years ago I made a 24 hour round trip from my place to Indy to do a trade for my pin for 3 RTRs. Rented a truck that was too big, (all they had - made reservations online...) and spent way more $ on gas than I first considered, but whatever, it was an interesting trip. Left around 10AM and got back around 10AM the following day.
Big thanks to the fellow Klover with whom I did the trade.

8 hours one way to pick up TRON. Third game I ever purchased.

7 hours one way to pick up Armor Attack. Not sure how many games I had by then, but it was prob in the 10 range.

I doubt I'll be going that far ever again for a single game. I actually picked up an Asteroids Deluxe on the way to get the Armor Attack, so it wasn't totally insane of a trip.

Funny thing is, I bought another Armor Attack 50 minutes from my house about 8 months later. So now I have 2! (and no. Neither of them are for sale....)

Picked up one pin near Atlantic City and another just outside Boston. 7428 mile round-trip to fetch a $75 game.

Scenic diversions included Teton Park, Devil's Tower, Silverball Museum in NJ, and Seattle Pin Museum on the way home.

The furthest I have driven for a game is about 2 1/2 hours. Did this year's ago(before Ebay) responding to the Orange County Reclyler classifieds. Picked up a Tempest upright and an extra Tempest marquee for my brother.

I'm planning a trip from MN where I live to Denver CO. Should clock in around 11 hours but I'm also planning on visiting a friend while I am there so it's kind of a two for one!

Being further West than Most, I can say I have made multiple trips east for work, and have always tried to come with something, but the furthest I would say I have driven is a 26 hr round trip.

I was working in Northern Alberta, the Edmonton area, when I got a reply to a cold inquiry I made from the VAPS list. The owner of a Gravitar in Winnipeg was going through a divorce and had to sell everything. He didn't want to see it go South, so we agreed on a price and I drove 13 hrs each way, napping only breifly, to pick the machine up. it was definitely worth the drive.

I then shoehorned it into the Basement suite rental I was staying at, finished the job (another 3 weeks work) then packed it up and drove the rest of the way home to Vancouver Island (17 hrs plus ferry ride).

I look back and think it's a bit kooky, but I play that Gravitar regularly.

Money and time well spent if you ask me.
